New science reveals that the night sky contains worlds, including millions of migratory birds and butterflies winging their way across continents. The dark night sky is a vital habitat. So, our limited respect for her harms us, our ecosystems, and the wildlife that depend on full cycles of light and darkness. What can we learn from inquiring about why modern society wants us to drown out the night? What can we gain from resisting?
