For the week of February 15-21, the theme of FUNUARY at SUUS is Do a “Grouch” a Favor. There’s an idea around that this theme came from Sesame Street’s Big Bird wanting to do something to improve Oscar the Grouch’s mood. Even many ancient Greek plays featured a grumpy character. No matter where the idea originated, you may know someone who’s in a slump, feels stressed by any of a variety of factors (not hard to be these days), or just can’t find a bright side to life.
From you a small action can make a difference in another’s demeanor –
- a phone call or short note
- deliver a small food item or flower
- an invitation to go for a (socially distanced) walk
If you think you are being crabby or a grouch, try –
- listening to music
- watching a funny film
- read a book
- reach out to a friend
No matter what you do, you will probably make a difference for the better in someone’s life.
