“Rumi: Poet for Our Times” – Sunday, December 29

Please join us for worship at 10:30am on December 29 for “Rumi: Poet for Our Times” as Rev. Dr. Mellen Kennedy leads us in a celebration of Rumi, the 13th century Sufi poet and mystic.

We will gather to hear his poetry, sing or chant, and listen to stories about his inspiring and challenging life.  You are invited to bring your favorite Rumi poem to share, if you wish.

Rev. Dr. Mellen Kennedy is a Unitarian Universalist minister and also a Sufi minister (Cheraga).  She serves as minister for the UU Church in Springfield, Vermont.  She is founder of “Interfaith Bridge,” an organization dedicated to cultivating friendship and understanding among Muslims and non-Muslims.  Interfaith Bridge was funded initially in part by a grant from the Unitarian Universalist Fund for Social Responsibility, and also by the Downing Trust.  (www.peaceandunitybridge.org).

Rev. Kennedy is also co-founder of the UU Small Group Ministry Network and teaches the sacred art of storytelling and extemporaneous speaking.  Mellen serves as chair of the Board of Trustees of the Inayati Order: A Sufi Path of Spiritual Liberty.
