The SUUS Green Team has responded to a new fracked-gas plant being approved for Killingly that also destroys a wetland in the process. Members have phoned Gov. Lamont’s office asking him to veto the permit for the new plant, since new energy sources are not needed in the state and any new plant will emit 2 million tons of carbon dioxide annually, breaching the Governor’s plans to achieve 100% renewable electricity by 2040. They are now calling the Siting Council at DEEP asking Melanie Bachman to cancel any gas expansion in Killingly, Bristol or elsewhere and to protect us all in the current climate emergency.
