Faith Formation News – 10/23/19

On Saturday, October 26, our Harry Potter class (grades 4-6) will be serving at the Old Lyme Food Pantry breakfast from 8 – 11am at Old Lyme Congregational Church.  Please be in touch with Barb Francese (Professor of Magical Creatures) for more details.

Boo!  Get your Halloween costumes ready because this Sunday, October 27, is our annual Halloween Party following regular Faith Formation classes!  Prior to the service, Dumbledore’s Army (our Harry Potter 4 – 6 class) will be collecting canned goods for local food pantries as part of their work on the “Hunger Horcrux.”  Please bring a canned good and give to one of our young wizards on your way into the service.  Help them fight the “Hunger Horcrux” here in our local community!

Parents: We are asking for nut-free Halloween inspired treats for kids and adults for the party this Sunday, October 27.  So far we have cupcakes and a fruit platter on the list.  Your contribution would be greatly appreciated.  Please contact Jennifer Swenson if you are able to provide a food item.

Mystery Pen Pals – this Sunday, October 27, is our final letter exchange.  Children, don’t forget to reveal your favorite meal to your pen pal and adults, don’t forget to reveal your favorite desert. The Mystery Pen Pal reveal dinner will be on Saturday, November 9 at 5p in the Fellowship Hall.  Please be in touch with Laura Martino with any questions.

A few other fabulous Faith Formation happenings!

Kid’s Korner!  Our nursery has been renamed to Kid’s Korner and accommodates children from birth to Pre-K.  In this cozy little nook of the Fellowship Hall, we will be offering PlaySchool, which is a Pre-K curriculum for Pre-School aged children.  Our Kid’s Korner staff will facilitate a mini lesson which includes a chalice lighting, check-in/out, story and activity.  We are so pleased to be adding this offering to our Fatih Formation program.

To find out more about PlaySchool, please email, call or stop by the Faith Formation floor upstairs.  You are always welcome.

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

In kindness,
Amy Buckley
