The Shaboos, the Iraqi family that SUUS and Congregation Mishkan Israel sponsored through our work with IRIS from 2011-2013, was featured in the New Haven Independent yesterday. Imad and Hayfaa are now US citizens and yesterday they voted in the New Haven primaries. Congratulations!
SUUS members spent countless hours working to obtain housing, furnishing an apartment for Imad and Hayfaa and their sons, getting the boys enrolled in schools, helping them find jobs, taking them shopping, to medical appointments, and just being their friends so that they felt welcome in their new home in America. Thank you for that commitment and all that hard work!
